The following speakers will be speaking at the conference:

Mr. Constantin – Adi GAVRILĂ

is an international mediation expert. He contributes a lot in development mediation worldwide including Romania,
Italy, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Serbia, Greece, Bulgaria, Georgia, Ukraine, Albania and other countries improving access to justice through ADR mechanisms, facilitating dialogue processes between different communities, training judges, mediators and lawyers.

Mr. Adi has practical experience mediating and facilitating complex cases including multi-party and multi-cultural company – community disputes regarding company projects’ social and environmental impacts (air quality, seismic activities within oil extraction areas, employment, investments). He is a mediator for the Office of Compliance Advisor Ombudsman, World Bank Group, Washington DC, USA, mediation trainer and consultant for ADR Center, Rome.

Mr. GAVRILĂ has been running own mediation firm in Craiova, Romania for more than 10 years already. He has vast experience of managing and coordinating different mediation projects within courts,
ministries, councils and other entities in different countries.

   

Alexander de fon Michel

Alexander de von Michel, Attorney and partner, “Scemla Loizon Veverka & de Fontmichel” Association of Lawyers, Paris, Franceб specialized in resolution of disputes in court institutions as well as in the field of domestic and international arbitration. Arbitrator (Chamber of Commerce and Industry, French Arbitration Association, Paris Center for Mediation and Arbitration, ad hoc arbitration), included in the register of arbitrators of the French TAP Committee and PCMA, Member of the ASA Bar Association. Examined in the National Council of Universities and included in the register of university associate professors on the private law and criminology. Proceedings in the FAA (French Arbitration Association), a casino group against the founder of Franprix / Leader-Price (the casino acquired securities of minority shareholders in the amount of approximately 450 million euros);
Proceedings in the court of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the French pharmaceutical group against the Indian pharmaceutical group (dispute after a buyout / dispute amount, approximately EUR 100 million);

Apostolos Antimos

Attorney at law at the Thessaloniki Bar Association, Greece. Graduated from the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki (1993); Ph.D. in International Civil Litigation (2002); two masters of Laws from the University of Hanover, Germany (1994) and Thessaloniki (1997).

Four monographs on Civil Procedure and International Civil Litigation issues; various publications in Czech, Greek, English, German, Romanian, Russian, Swiss, and Spanish law reviews and magazines, on topics related to International litigation, Arbitration and Dispute resolution, Commercial law and Civil Procedure. Panelist at the Czech Arbitration Court [.eu ADR] since 2006; editor for Civil Procedure in the Thessaloniki Bar Review “Armenopoulos”, and for IT Law in the Greek law magazine “Synigoros”. Professor of Civil Procedure, ADR and Law on Succession at the European University of Cyprus (Department of Greek law); lecturer for Civil Law and Torts at the Thracian Law Faculty (2003-2004); lecturer teaching the law on Mediation at the International Hellenic University (2013; secretary of the committee for the reform of the Greek Code for Civil Procedure (2010-2011).

Allison Torline

We would like to introduce another speaker of our upcoming conference.
Allison Torline is an associate at Allen & Overy LLP. Based in Frankfurt, Germany, Allison is a US-trained attorney who practices international commercial and investment treaty arbitration. She advises and represents states, international corporations and private investors.
Allison has experience with proceedings conducted under the ICC, HKIAC, DIS and ICSID Rules. She has particular expertise in trade, infrastructure, energy and post-M&A disputes.

   

Arne Fuchs

Our next speaker is Arne Fuchs, a dispute resolution specialist who is described as "phenomenally hard working" and "a prominent name in Investment Arbitration space" by GAR's 2017 and 2018 editions of Who's Who Legal: Arbitration-Future Leaders

Arne Fuchs focuses his practice on international dispute resolution, with an emphasis on international arbitration and public international law, including investment treaty arbitration. He has experience with disputes conducted under the ICSID Convention, ICC, LCIA, HKIAC, Swiss, DIS and UNCITRAL Rules, as well as pure ad-hoc arbitration. Arne also acts as (sole) arbitrator and has served as secretary of the tribunal in numerous international arbitrations (commercial and treaty).

   

Abhinav Bhushan

Abhinav Bhushan, Director, South Asia, ICC Arbitration & ADR International Court of Arbitration, International Chambers of Commerce (ICC)

As Director, Abhinav provides companies, governments, investors, and attorneys in the region with advice concerning efficient resolution of international disputes by raising their awareness of the ICC’s Dispute Resolution Services, including arbitration, mediation and expert dispute resolution services. He also initiates and oversees ICC arbitration trainings and conferences in the region and educates current and prospective ICC users on the interpretation of ICC Rules and the ICC’s latest policies on transparency disclosure and costs, including expeditious determination of manifestly unmeritorious claims or Defenses, expedited procedures and emergency arbitration procedures.

International Commercial, Investment and Treaty Disputes Arbitrator.
Queen’s Counsel.

Delegate and sometime Vice-Chairman to UNCITRAL 1984 to 1997, where work included the drafting and adoption of the UNCITRAL Model Law in 1985 and other Treaties and Conventions.
An extensive arbitral practice, mostly as chairman, of some scores of commercial and contractual disputes, most commonly under the aegis of the ICC and the PCA, but also at the LCIA, HKIAC, SIAC, KLRCA, IAMA and other institutions, and also tribunals ad hoc, in disputes involving diverse commercial issues.
Member, usually presiding, of some 20 investment and other treaty disputes Tribunals, particularly of ICSID Tribunals (including 5 ad hoc Annulment Committees) and of other Tribunals with State party respondents established under UNCITRAL or other Rules at the PCA, ICC and elsewhere, and also in State v. Fozilzhon Khaidarovich Otakhonov

Chairman of International Commercial Arbitration Court under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, PhD in Law, Associate Professor.

• In 1981 he graduated with honors from the Law Faculty of Tashkent State University.
• 1981-1988 - Senior arbitrator of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Procurement of Uzbek SSR,
• 1988-1992 - Head of the Legal Department, Chief Arbitrator of the Ministry of Bread Products of the UzSSR,
• 1992 –1994 Director of the law firm Kalkon under the State Concern Uzkhleboprodukt,
• 1994-1995 Assistant to the Chairman of the State Joint-Stock Corporation Uzkhleboprodukt on legal issues, 1996-1997. - Judge of the Supreme Economic Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan,
• 1997-2004 - Chairman of the Economic Court of Tashkent city,
• 2004-2005 - Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan,
• 2005-2006 - Deputy State Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the Institute for Legislation Monitoring under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Editor-in-Chief of the Civil Society magazine,
• 2006-2007 - Minister of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, from July to October 2007 - Deputy State Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the Institute for Legislation Monitoring under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
• 2007-2011 - Senior Researcher, Head of Grant of the Institute of Philosophy and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. February 28, 2011, he was appointed as a Chairman of the International Commercial Arbitration Court under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and since July 2011 he has been working as Deputy Chairman of the Court of Arbitration at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
